Proceeds go towards The Panda’s Friend Sports Club.
Not many get to say that they have won a NBA championship. We all know a great number of people who have worked their whole basketball career and are currently working towards achieving such a title–Metta is no different. His whole life led up to this very moment: the 2010 NBA championship. Blood, sweat, tears and a plethora of sacrifices later he obtained one of the ultimate basketball titles. With that title came more recognition and of course a NBA ring. The rarity of obtaining such a ring is obvious, so for Metta to auction off this prized possession was a pretty BIG deal.
This ring was not auctioned for just anything. It went towards something near and dear to Metta’s heart: mental health awareness. Millions of people are affected by mental illness, yet many go undiagnosed and suffer in silence. Metta is working towards making mental health a priority in school, sports, and overall in daily lives. He showed his dedication towards this cause by sending the proceeds toward mental health in hopes that one day mental illness won’t be treated like taboo.
